What is GPS Teen Driver Monitoring?

A GPS vehicle tracking unit is a device that uses the Global Positioning Satellites to determine the precise location of a vehicle, person, or other asset it is attached to and record the position of the asset at regular intervals. The recorded location data can be stored within the tracking unit, or it may be transmitted to a central location, or internet-connected computer, using a cellular, radio, or satellite modem embedded in the unit. This allows the vehicle location to be displayed on street-level map data in real-time, using either web browser based tools or customized software.

How does MobileTEEN GPS™ Compare to other Tracking Methods?

Today's tracking methods fall into the following categories.

1.) Observation Tracking

Bumper Sticker With 1-800-Number

Fact: Somewhat helpful
Flaw: Unreliable - based on observations of other drivers and the initiative to make contact. Often creates false reports.

2.) Passive GPS Devices

Black Boxes, Chips and Cell Phone GPS

Fact: Helpful
Flaw: Information is historical, perhaps after the parents’ opportunity to intervene and avoid a negative event, even a tragedy. Easily unplugged or disabled. Cell Phone chip does not notify parent when violation occurs and is easily disabled.

3.) Real Time GPS Devices

Fact: Very Helpful!
Only flaw is if parent does not use the real time data to intervene, coach, or council driving behaviors. The most affordable-easy to use real time GPS tracking option on the market.
